My Favorite Writing Assignment

My favorite assignment was my college essay. This was a very personal essay but one in which I got to expressed myself and have fun with. What made this essay meaningful was that I got to choose the topic and it didn’t really need an structure. It’s fun to work on stuff that are from your personal life because I for example try to always present it as best as I can. I knew the assignment was a big step for me because it was going to be the one read by others and in a way presenting myself to them and for the college to know me. It was leaving behind the little girl from high school and actually start the beginning of a long pathway. That essay was a turning point in my life because not only was my last assignment from high school but my first in college plus that it was so personal and I got to discuss about my dad and my entire family and how I see life now. I really like assignments in which I get to talk about myself. On the other hand, what is a little bit challenging for me is when the professor names a type of essay that is due and not knowing right away what the purpose of the essay is about. I usually don’t like to have different drafts due because it in a way slows me down and doesn’t help me get to the point. When writing I feel like I need to focus and at least have a draft done to then have a final because if I start to split the work or pause myself the essays just get me bored and feel like I’m not really learning anything from it and I’m just writing because I’m told to have a second draft due for example. It is challenging because there is just so much to remember and plus remembering the names of the type of writing could be a little challenging for me because I just get frustrated for not knowing what is due and how I’m supposed to start. What I do like to do is brainstorm and have like a set idea of what I will be writing about and then just write whatever comes to my mind based on that topic. It makes it easier for then the writings to flow and really come together in the end since the brainstorm was what motivated me to start the essay in the first place.
